There is no doubt the opening scene for Carpoolers was one of the strongest opening the show has seen thus far this season. We have the four gentleman rocking out to hold music, it was classic. This was the sort of scene that I worried would get played out, but it really just works for the show. The main idea however behind the episode is that Dougie wants to renew his vows. He talks about his actual wedding day and a dead whale ruining everything. The whole story is actually pretty creative and so renewing his vows is his intention to make up for ruining his wedding.
Laird has always been known as the lady’s man, and he has been known for his satirical comedy in the show as well. However Laird acts different today and the rest of the gang knows it must me Joaniffer his evil ex-wife. First off the names in this show are fantastic, Joaniffer is among my favorite in terms of names. Joaniffer is this big busty blonde who as she states gets it going whenever the wind hits her right. Laird and her seem great for about a day after she spent a good year in India, and she goes back to being her old self quickly following that.
The best part of the show, and this episode continues to be Marmaduke. He really is the saving grace of Carpoolers He has about three to five minutes in each episode and makes everyone of them a worthwhile experience. There is no question that when he saw Joaniffer the reaction was absolutely hilarious. Overall A Divorce to be Remembered was a great episode, it struggled for a few minutes in the middle, but it was one where I had more laugh out loud moments then the majority of the episodes prior.

So there hasn’t been a whole lot of of news by way of Carpoolers as of late, but that is all about to change with the November sweeps. This is a big time for the new comedy who has been struggling just a bit in the ratings as of late, although remaining rather consistent. TVSquad.com has a small insight into what to expect in this big month of television for Carpoolers:
Carpoolers (ABC): Laird hooks up with his hot but crazy ex-wife (played by Rebecca Romijn). The guys feel guilty but swear secrecy when they believe that a prank they pulled caused a rival carpool’s car to catch fire.

You know I have been really skeptical to let myself enjoy Carpoolers, mainly because the ratings for the show haven’t been to hot and the lead in, Cavemen has been panned by critics and viewers. However ABC announced late last week that Carpoolers has added three more scripts to the list to make a total of 12. Here is what E Online had to say on the news:
While it’s not a full season pickup, it’s good news for the four fine gentlemen who hitch a ride together and make us laugh on ABC’s Carpoolers. Sources tell me the series has received an order for three more scripts, bringing the total season order so far to 12 episodes. And that’s certainly a step in the right direction.
Although this news doesn’t put in stone that the show will air all twelve scripts it at least shows that ABC has a bit of confidence in the four commuters. We shall keep you as up to date on Carpoolers Ratings and its status at ABC.

There is no doubt that many of you are really either getting into the series or finding that the series is not for you, that is just the way this all works out. Tonights episode titled ‘Down for the Count’ featured Gracen and Laird as the two focal points of the episode. We see Gracen having a romantic evening with his Wife when things don’t go exactly as planned, and in fact the next morning his wife says that he might want to think about having “The Surgery”. If your a guy you know what its referring to and if your not and your confused ask a guy they will know! In fact one of the best lines in the show was when Gracen was explaining the term to his wife and said something along the lines of the surgery is in the front and the procedure is in the back, classic.
The episode of course had Marmaduke who decided he wanted to get into bartering, and gets some of the most outrageous items out of the deal. His character wasn’t as big of a part of the comedy in this episode which is a shame. The big comedy came when both Gracen and Laird went to the clinic to see how there sperm count was, and surprisingly Gracen was high and Laird was really low which gave Laird the biggest of confident boosters.
All in all this was a pretty middle of the road episode, it didn’t have any drop down to the ground hilarious scenes but you will be entertained for the half an hour of the episode that is for sure.

Just a reminder for all you carpoolers, make sure to head out of work early and hit the diamond lane tonight at 8:30pm Pacific Time for Carpoolers on ABC. You can plan on a review following the airing of the show checking in with our thoughts on tonights show, and where the series could go from here! Enjoy the episode and here is tidbit from TV.com on tonights episode titled Down For the Count:
Laird is frustrated to learn that not only does he have a low sperm count, but that Gracen has a much higher count. Dougie has to perform some manual labor in order to help Aubrey get a hot spot at a top notch pre-school.

Each week we try to give you an idea of where Carpoolers is at in the ratings book, mainly because my big names in the industry have said that it is a show that could possibly be on the chopping block. Since the premiere which was solid, the show saw a decline in last weeks episode and just a real slight dip last night, really leveling out surprisingly higher then many have anticipated. Here is what Media Life Magazine had to say:
ABC’s “Cavemen” was up slightly from the previous week, from a 2.5 to a 2.7, while lead-out “Carpoolers” slid a bit, from a 2.8 to a 2.7.
CBS began the night in the lead with a 4.1 rating at 8 p.m. for “NCIS,” followed by Fox with a 3.2 for the first hour of the ALCS game. ABC was third with a 2.7 average for “Cavemen” (2.7) and “Carpoolers” (2.7), while NBC and CW tied for fourth at 1.7, NBC for “Matt Lauer Reports,” an interview with Sen. Larry Craig, and CW for “Beauty and the Geek.” Univision placed sixth with a 1.1 for “Amar sin Limites.”

I haven’t been as big of a fan of Carpoolers as I thought I would be going into the show. However ‘Who Would You Do’ was just the best Carpoolers episode thus far. The idea behind this episode is that Dougy is driving (a Prius, the same car I drive) and they were playing this game ‘Who would you do?’. Dougy gives the idea of a date night to help everyones marriage, and that is when Gracen takes his wife on a date and plays the game of who would you do? This is hilarious mainly because his wife picks Laird, which as any man knows would be the 100% wrong answer.
The show is driven by a few things, slapstick humor, carpool humor, and Marmaduke. That is right I said, Marmaduke who is in each episode only for a few minutes but is Napoleon Dynamite type humor has brought laughs in each episode and continued to in this episode. Although I don’t know about the life span of Carpoolers, each week I worry that the ratings of Cavemen could really hurt this show, and although I loved this episode I hope to be able to review several more in the future.

The first half of the TV season can be a pretty scary time for any fan of a new show. I remember a few years back I got really into Commander in Chief on ABC and quite frankly it was yanked right out from under me. This year E! Online has compiled a list of the new shows and what there chances are of making it through the season and there future in television. Here is what E! Online had to say about Carpoolers:
Carpoolers (25%): Its premiere episode scored a nice 9 million viewers, with many most likely tuning in to check out its lead-in (the much talked about Cavemen). Unfortunately, even though the second episode was even better than the first, Carpoolers lost a lot of eyeballs this week and needs better ratings in order to stick around.
This is about exactly what I thought of Carpoolers chances to stay alive. It really needs to find that niche audience, and of course in today’s day and age it needs to find it fast!

We all know that ABC put the Carpoolers and Cavemen duo together to see how the two would fair together as two light hearted comedies. The first week of the duo faired rather well, and although the ratings were solid, many were skeptical of how the show would do on its second week, and like almost all new shows Carpoolers saw a major hit in the ratings down 18% from last week’s viewership. Here is what Media Life Magazine had to say about the decline in Carpoolers ratings:
The network’s “Carpoolers,” “Cavemen’s” 8:30 p.m. lead-out, also slipped 18 percent, from a 3.4 to a 2.8, though it once again grew out of its lead-in.
CBS began the night in the lead with a 3.4 at 8 p.m. for “NCIS,” followed by Fox with a 3.1 for “Bones,” up from a 2.9 last week. ABC was third with a 2.7 average for “Cavemen” (2.5) and “Carpoolers” (2.8), NBC fourth with a 2.2 average for “The Singing Bee” (2.1) and the first 30 minutes of “The Biggest Loser,” CW fifth with a 1.5 for “Beauty and the Geek” and Univision sixth with a 1.0 for “Amar sin Limites.”

So we are here in the second episode of Carpoolers, and after a first week that left a lot to be desired, this second week really stepped it up in a big way. Although I don’t necessarily see a major point to the show, I actually got a few laughs out of it. First off the big plot line for this week’s episode is obviously Laird who asks for Gracen’s wedding ring, he wants the ring to pick up on some girl he just met who only wants to be with married men. Well during this whole escapade, we have Dougie and Aubrey interacting on the important of “we” rather then “me”. This all comes up when Dougie finds Aubrey going to a motel in which he believes Aubrey is cheating on his wife, but rather he just wants to be alone for me time. Obviously the most fun I had with the show was with Marmaduke (what a name), Gracen’s son, who is just completely out of it.
I still don’t see much congruence in the show, it for the most part doesn’t make any sense and this is is hard for the show to manage to connect with an audience, however at the same time the show this week felt a lot more enjoyable and for me I didn’t mind sitting through it as much. Is the show going to stay on the air? Well it’s going to need to continue improve in week’s to come to make it to that point! We will be back tomorrow with the ratings to see how well the sophomore episode faired in the ratings.
